Hello and welcome to my blog – part duex+
I have traditionally used this space for posting dispatches during my mountaineering expeditions and for updates on Alzheimer’s news and my fund raising activities. That will remain.
Now I will add an ongoing series of thoughts, reports and opinions on subjects ranging from climbing to politics to life in general. Some of you may remember Mimi’s Blog on this site a few years ago. I will consult her frequently and reflect her views. 🙂

MT vs WP
First up is why I switched from MovableType (MT) to WordPress (WP) as my blogging system. Simply put, MT was so hard to use, subject to spam and impossible to upgrade that I was spending more time administrating than publishing. During the last upgrade, erroneous emails were sent out to all my subscribers – that was the straw that broke my camels back. I apologize for sending those erroneous emails.
So I looked into WordPress and had it installed and customized in about a day whereas it took over month to do the same with MT. If you had signed up for new posts notification, you will need to sign up for notifications at the top of the sidebar.
I have already tested the capability to post from email, via voice and cell phone that I am confident I can do my climbing dispatches – even from satellite phones – when the time comes.
Next up is an update on my Memories are Everything: The 7 Summits for Alzheimer’s project. After all Aconcagua 2010 is only a few months away!
